On Friday 14th August 2009 our
Grand Prior Grand Prior, Chevalier George Stewart KGCTpl FSA Scot and Chancellor,
Chevalier Ron Sinclair JP KCTpl FSA Scot, were guests of our Member
Chevalier
Ashley Cowie KOTpl FSA Scot at the launch of his new book
"The Rosslyn Templar", hosted by the Publishers,
Luath Press at
Borders in Glasgow. The book is based on a
pastel painting by R T McPherson in 1836 of a "Templar Knight at Roslin Chapel".
The painting is the earliest material evidence linking the
Knights Templar to Rosslyn Chapel. In the book Ashley discusses
the painting, the history of
Freemasonry and the architecture of Rosslyn, new artistic
evidence for a connection between the Templars, Freemasons and
Rosslyn. Ashley is also hosting an exhibition of photographs
from the book at the
Gallery@Mussel Inn, 157 Hope Street, Glasgow until
Wednesday 2nd September.
